The Bike

The bike is what concerns me the most. I am not that fast. You have until 1:30 for the first loop and 5:30 for the second. I am hoping to be on my bike by 8:30 (the race starts at 7) and that gives me 9 hours for the 112 miles. I think that is around 13 mph. The race I did 2 weekends ago, was only 17.5 miles but I averaged 14.5 mph - my best yet for a non-flat course. So, I have some hope.

People say the bike is harder than expected. It's good to know this now. I am told there are very few flat parts and given the elevation map, that does sound true. I know this is nothing compared to Ironman Lake Placid or Canada, but this will be a challenge for me. Than again, if this wasn't a challenge everyone would be doing these!
